The Super Bowl is all about the game right? Of course — the game, and the food (and the commercials, but we digress). Football is the reason for the season, but if you’ve got a crowd coming for game day, they’ll be expecting a spread — and we’re not talking points here. This is no occasion that calls for bruschetta and tempura though — think filling dips and tasty American finger foods. Sophisticated? Non. Delicious? Oh yeah.

Top Five Super Bowl Party Recipes

Hot Wings To Feed A Crowd. Sure you could pick up some hot wings at the grocery store deli, but your guests will be so much more impressed if you make your own. Never done it? Us either … which is why we love this step by step video, with recipes, from AllRecipes.com

Jalapeno Poppers. Spicy cheesy fried things? Pretty much covers all the Super Bowl food groups. Nuff said.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp. Slightly more high-brow than your run-of-the-mill Super Bowl fare, which is really all the more reason to do it. A shrimp platter is nice, but add a little spicy grilled goodness — with a recipe that’s way easier to make than your guests will think — and you’re a party-throwing super star.

Guacamole. Beside the finger foods, dips are critical to a well-rounded Super Bowl spread. Guacamole is, of course, delicious — and since avocados are good for you, we’re calling it healthy. Who’s going to argue on game day?

Seven Layer Taco Dip. If you’ve ever lived in the Midwest, you’ll know that no sports-centered gathering is complete without the Seven Layer Taco Dip. Because six layers just wouldn’t be enough.
