Each day at 8 a.m. Pacific, before many west coast retail stores open, and long before trophy wives tote their toy dogs into Rodeo Drive boutiques, millions of women are getting there hands on gorgeous fashions, chic home decor and dream getaways, and their doing it from the comfort of their frugally furnished homes– for up to 75% off.

Check out our tips on how to get our haute look by shopping HauteLook.

How to Shop HauteLook

The Gist.
Hautelook is a members-only online retailer similar to Ideeli, Gilt Groupe and others, but unique in its own way (we’ll get to that in a second). Easy to navigate, it takes less than a minute to sign up, and you’ll soon gain access to women’s, men’s and kids apparel and accessories, home offerings, beauty products and getaways. Sorry– no spa trips or food discounts here.

The Events.
Sale events begin every single day at 8 a.m. Pacific. HauteLook lets you in on upcoming sales as far as three days in advance. But while you’ll get a small sneak peek of the event, you can’t see what items are actually for sale until it begins. The exception to this is with many getaways.

The Convenience.
HauteLook stands out from many other retailers in how easy they make it for you to shop (which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you look at it). When it comes to sites such as these, there’s a lot of value in getting to the items fast so you can purchase them before they’re gone. Thus, HauteLook lets you narrow your search by size, style and price. To really up the ante, with HauteLook, you can shop on your mobile device of choice and stay in the know with alerts.

The Purchase.
HauteLook is actually part of the Nordstrom family, which offers perks for shoppers because of the upgraded return policy and payment options. With HauteLook, you can pay with a credit card, PayPal and BillMeLater. You can return apparel and accessories for a refund or store credit. If you choose store credit, return shipping is free. If you choose cash, it’ll cost you $5.95.

The Society.
If you love HauteLook and love shoes, you must join Sole Society, which brings you a personalized selection of designer shoes for under $50. There’s no obligation to buy and you get free shipping on your purchase. Oh, and HauteLook members get $10 off their first purchase (yay!).

The Caveats.
There are a few notes to remember when it comes to shopping HauteLook. Firstly, remember that your purchase won’t ship until, most likely, a few days after the sale event ends. Sales typically last two days and prices will not change during that time. One more thing: you may be confused about what HauteLook means by “hold” items. This means the item is in another shopper’s cart, but hasn’t been purchased. Hold your breath, because if the shopper doesn’t buy it within 15 minutes, it’s back on sale.
