The music memorabilia of not one but two music legends are going under the hammer on 14 April. The auction will take place at the Theatre Royal in London courtesy of The Fame Bureau.

Elvis Presley’s first music collection was held and looked after by Scotty More for decades.

“I first met Elvis when he came to my house in Memphis to audition for me on the 4th of July,” he muses “For 40 years, the records have never left my possession. These records were some of Elvis’ first and all-time favourite records. They influenced Elvis as a musician and vocalist for sure,” he further recalls “They were to be part of the recorded music Bill and I created with Elvis back in the 1950’s.”

The piano which Paul McCartney used to perform Yesterday will also be up for auction.

In a bout of self-doubt, the Beatle said he dreamt up the music to the world’s most covered song in 1964 and was convinced that he had accidentally stolen it from another artist. He then went to singer-cum-socialite Alma Cogan’s home to see if she knew it, playing it on her family’s 1926 mini piano with the improvised lyric: “Scrambled eggs, oh, my baby how I love your legs” (which, by the way, proved that he was wrong). The piano was later used by Mick Jagger, Sean Connery, John Lennon and Michael Caine – all friends of Alma. Her sister Sandra Caron is now auctioning the instrument.

The vinyl collections and the piano are expected to fetch £150,000 and £125,000 respectively.
