Zenith has tapped famed Valais mountaineer Antoine Cina as its new Ambassador. In partnership with the luxury sports watch manufacturer, the daredevil climber will scale Everest from the Tibetan side and take off from the top of the world on a para-glider.

Following two years of preparation, Antoine Cina will
attempt Mount Everest via the Tibetan route. Antoine Cina
will carry two Zenith flags in his baggage: the first to be raised at the Base Camp and the second on the summit of Everest. There,
right on top of the world, 25 grueling days after the start of the expedition, he will
attempt the challenge that is his reason for his arduous climb to the highest
point on Earth –  to plunge off the edge on
a paraglider emblazoned with Zenith’s starred logo.

During his expedition to the top of the world, Antoine Cina
will wear an El Primero Stratos Flyback encased in exotic Alchron.
Specially developed for watchmaking, this lightweight alloy boasts exceptional
mechanical characteristics, with a 210 HV Vickers hardness measurement. Antoine
Cina’s watch also comes equipped with a flyback function that will enable him
to simultaneously stop, reset and restart the chronograph by pressing a single
button. This function was initially developed for pioneering aviators, to allow them to calculate a new heading with ease. During the Mount
Everest flight, the flyback mechanism will remind the plucky
Zenith ambassador of the exploits of his equally brave predecessors.

Well-wishers will be glad to know that the expedition will
be covered on a daily basis by French journalist Nathalie Lamoureux, who will
post updates and videos on the climbers’ progress.
