The camellias, confetti and chic coiffures were out in full
force this month, as the house of Chanel rolled out its Cruise Collection and
hosted a private dinner for designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Lagerfeld’s muses-of-the-moment, Blake Lively, Rachel
Bilson, Clemence Poesy and
Vanessa Paradis were among the gorgeous starlets who fêted the legendary
designer at a Parisian dinner last week.

The glamorous soiree was followed by the presentation of
Chanel’s 2011/12 Cruise Collection at the Hôtel du Cap Eden-Roc
on the French Riviera. The 1950s-inspired show spotlighted beautiful bias-cut
gowns of pleated ivory silk that glimmered at the neckline with oversized
pearls, together with sleek pencil skirt suits with embellished buttons.

“It’s about dressing down these very sumptuous looks,
about easy elegance,” Lagerfeld said. “There is a certain discipline in the clothes, with a
glamour inherited from the 1950s, a glamour that is more natural, more
interior, miles away from the current red carpet trends.”
