In honor of the LeDIX – the world’s first micromechanical cellphone with flying tourbillon – by Celsius X VI II, Prince Jewellery & Watch Company held a product launch cocktail at the Kowloon Shangri-La on May 12.

VIPs in attendance include Edouard Meylan, co-founder & co-CEO of Celsius X, VI II, Thomas Pruvot, co-founder and head of design and development at Celsius X VI II, TVB artiste Fala Chen, famous intellect Chip Tsao, Joseph Chu, executive director of Prince Jewellery & Watch Company and Samson Sun, permanent honorary president of the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industry Ltd.

For those who missed its debut at the Basel World Watch and Jewellery Show last year, the Celsius X VI II LeDix in a nutshell: created with grade 5 titanium, the tech-meets-aesthetics LeDix weighs 245 grams with ebony inserts. With each opening of the clamshell, the patented Remontage Papillon movement is activated, thereby adding three hours of power reserve to the total of 100 hours.

Edouard Meylan said “LeDIX is an art piece that features groundbreaking technology and heralds a new generation of objects with high emotional value, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share our creation with the enthusiasts and connoisseurs of China and Hong Kong.”

Chip Tsao philosophizes “The craving for technology takes root in the inborn human desire to improve lives. In the past 20 years, humans’ attention has shifted from improving the efficiency of basic needs to improving the efficiency of collecting information, facilitating communication and making the world more cozy by shortening the distance among one another. It is therefore quite predictable to see a lot of advancements in the development of communication devices. However, the way that Celsius X VI II has decided to combine a mechanical watch movement with a cell phone is indeed creative. To supply power to the tourbillon by the simple action of the opening of the clamshell cell phone is even more eye-opening. It is the perfect interaction of the two major parts of the device that makes it a truly outstanding creation that excels in both functionality and creativity.”
