What: Nine West is bringing on more designer collaborations starting with Sophie Theallet. Her line will land in stores May 1^st with shoes, accessories and handbags priced from $79 to $109. The following collaboration, sometime in the fall, will be with Giles Deacon.

What They Say: Fred Allard, Nine West’s creative director, said women’s wear designers such as Sophie Theallet and Giles Deacon “bring a new aesthetic to our stores.” He called Theallet’s designs “fresh and feminine” and Deacon’s style “futuristic, modern and exciting.”

What We Say: As huge fans of Nine West’s Vivienne Westwood collaboration (though it wasn’t super affordable), we definitely like the idea of Nine West continuing to do partnerships like this. As for Sophie Theallet, we hope the rest of the line is better than the bag, shoe combo pictured here. Okay, to be fair, we like the shoe, alright, we’re just not enamored and if we’re going to spend the extra bucks on “designer” Nine West shoes, we want them to have that higher fashion look. Her normal runway designs tend to be a bit edgier and not quite so country-bumpkin, so we hope to see more of the reason we dig her as a designer in the first place. Though we haven’t gotten a sneak-peek at Giles Deacon’s stuff, if he too sticks to his strengths –being whimsical and really bold–it’ll all be gravy, baby.
