Animal Print dos and don’ts.: TBF has addressed this issue in the past (one of Kathryn’s favorite Fashion Week stories features a woman decked head-to-toe in animal print, who actually growled at her — it still haunts her). So don’t risk being the scary growling cheetah-clad lady, or Olivia from Jerseylicious for that matter; follow these simple rules to make your animal print both tasteful and modern this fall.
Our tips:
Pick your print and stick with it. Just one print, and one piece. Leopard not only doesn’t go with zebra, it doesn’t go with other leopard either. While we do love artful print-mixing, there’s no point in risking looking like a safari gone horribly horribly wrong — we’re just sayin.
Start with accessories. This season, there’s no shortage of amazing handbags, belts, pumps and bangles with just enough animal print to participate without over-committing. If, however, you’re already in a long-term relationship with said animal prints, go ahead and progress to a simple top or blouse.
Keep it simple. Let your animal print be your statement, and keep everything else simple and neutral. We kind of love an animal print with the military-inspired items this fall, so consider a leopard print tote with, say, a pair of skinny jeans and neutral booties with a t-shirt and military style jacket. Or, if military’s not your thing, consider a cute animal print clutch (like the one shown here) with your little black dress and a pair of standout pumps to rock at some of those upcoming holiday happenings.
