Vancheron Constantin’s creation for Only Watch 2011
is “Dove”,
an artistically-decorated instrument that embeds the peace motif within an intricate pattern of red and
white doves.

Inspired by Maurits Cornelis Escher, a 20th
century Dutch engraver and graphic artist, Dove was based on a subtle play on
architecture, perspective and space. The
technique of tessellation i.e. juxtaposing figures – doves in this case – to
fill a plane with no overlaps or gaps, is applied to the dial, whereby the
sense of depth is accentuated to vividly express the theme of perspective. Symbols of hope and love, the birds are applied using the Only Watch colors of red and white. Fitted with 18K gold, the dial blends the technique of enamelling (red and white birds) with hand-guilloche (gold birds). Note that the bird at 10 o’clock is set using 40 brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling approximately 0.08 carat.

The artistic exterior is matched by a calibre of
utmost precision: the in-house developed and produced mechanical self-winding Vacheron
Constantin Calibre 2460. Bearing the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, the
Calibre 2460 enjoys exquisite hand finishes crafted in accordance with Geneva’s
noblest Fine Watchmaking traditions.
