What: Sofia Vergara, star of Modern Family is designing her first signature fashion collection Sofia Vergara for Kmart. Her celebrity fashion line includes dresses, boots, knit tops, handbags, shoes, jackets, leggings and sweaters all ranging from $9.99 to $59.99.

What They Say: Women’s Wear Daily: “It’s a daring move for the mass merchant to cater to the younger contemporary crowd with Vergara but, in an interview, she said the collection doesn’t cross the line…But she acknowledges the line represents Kmart stepping out. “We’re trying to fill a hole in the store. They wanted to appeal to a younger woman with something a little spicy. The times are changing,” she said.

What We Say: You know, it’s not such a bad thing for a mass merchant to have a little spice. Actually, it’s a good thing. Aside from the fact that we adore Sofia Vergara and acknowledge that she is one of the hottest women alive, we’re on board with Kmart branching out a bit – just because you want to save a buck or two, doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice sex appeal. On the other hand, out of the small portion of items we’ve seen, which include a tiny mini skirt and a very form fitting leopard print dress, it’s apparent that these looks can very easily shift into the trashy realm if not done correctly. We don’t have to tell you this, budget fashionistas, but there are right ways and very wrong ways to wear these items.
